TYPHOON

This is like nothing you've ever seen before: A vehicle with accel eration, braking, handling and all-around road competence that verges on the awesome, and treats four people to supreme luxury. Then adds a generous measure of practical utility into the bargain. · It's called Typhoon from GMC Truck. And it's unique in all the world. · Typhoon shares all the motivation of the GMC Syclone. It has the same turbocharged, intercooled, 280-hp. 4.3 liter V6. It has the same advanced full-time all-wheel drive for uncanny traction on paved surfaces in inclement weather. And, like Syclone, Typhoon has the added safety and accident avoid ance sophistication of a computer- assisted 4-wheel anti-lock braking system. Cutting-edge engineering that not only contributes to Typhoon's consummate road capabilities. But also indelibly marks Typhoon as a vehicle to run with Europe's most highly respect ed grand touring sedans. For tens of thousands of dollars less. · Typhoon becomes an even more sensible alternative when you factor in its luxury and utility. There's Ultrasoft leather in the seating areas, there's elbow, knee and legroom. And behind it all is a capacity alien to either the per formance or luxury-car categories: 67.3 cubic feet of cargo space with the rear seat folded, 28.1 behind the rear seat too. · For all it's thoughtful conve niences, though, Typhoon's heart and soul is the open road. It's equally adept at tunneling through the mists of a Montana morning, or taking you quickly, smartly and safely through the snowy passages
of a winter ski vacation. All with standard features so complete there are only three items on the options list. · This, then, is the new Typhoon from GMC Truck. A unique vehicle that lets you pursue the most luxurious and active of lifestyles. With extraor dinary quickness.

SYCLONE

With Syclone, GMC Truck lays valid claim to providing one of the most sophisticated examples of performance engineering available at any price. · So stunning and comprehensive is Syclone's techni cal virtuosity that Car and Driver* pitted it against a Ferrari 348ts in a road-test comparison - much to our delight and Ferrari's dismay. · "What you feel in the Syclone," the magazine stated, "is the same kind of cut-and-run agility that made sports cars so much fun in the first place." Of Syclone's 280-hp, turbocharged and inter cooled 4.3-liter VG, the editors wrote: "No doubt about it.. .for American running, the Syclone has the cards:' · Of Syclone's braking, they wrote: "The way pickups stop is usually more exciting than the way they go, but the Syclone has the answer for that, too. It has ABS brakes as standard equipment. Dog-dish size (9.5-inch diameter) drums are used at the rear..:' We hasten to point out that this ABS activates all four wheels. · Car and Driver likened Syclone's full-time all-wheel drive to the "all wheel-drive grip on the road of the megabuck, not-legal- here Porche 959:' Commenting on Syclone's ability to harness power, they said, "the Syclone has a transmission that makes the best marriage between the power and the traction:' and added: "what you feel is a composure that's obtainable only with phenomenal traction:' · While it's nice to receive rave reviews from enthusi ast magazines, we'd like to empha size that Syclone was engineered to provide the most pragmatic performance possible. Wrapped up with a fun quotient that'll immediately make you think of a motorcycle with a roof and two supremely comfortable, bolstered and adjustable bucket seats. · As Car and Driver concluded: "The real magic is the way (Syclone) makes this capability seem like a perfectly wonderful idea:' · Which, of course, it is.

SONOMA GT

With our new Sonoma GT, GMC Truck tips its hat to a proud American tradition. · In the case of our Sonoma GT, that translates into a 195 hp, 252 CID V6 with a balance shaft for smoothness and central port electronic fuel injection for deep breathing - a specially enhanced version of the 4.3 liter V6 that's available in other Sonomas. And is already the most powerful V6 you can get in a compact pickup*. · As you might expect from a company with our heritage and background, we see "GT" as standing for more than "good times" on the street. And you count on it here, because we engineered a premium perfor mance pickup that doesn't get confused in the corners. The standard sports suspension and big 15-inch tires provide traction in the turns. Acceleration out the other side is made more than satisfying by a standard, slick shifting, 4-speed automatic with overdrive, and a limited-slip positraction differential. · Yet, Sonoma GT doesn't rely on power alone to make it an attractive purchase. It comes completely equipped, including aerodynamics package and a knockout interior with sensationally Syclone-like bucket seats. Even air conditioning and stereo/AM/FM/cassette are standard. · In fact, as you can see, our new Sonoma GT is a lot like Syclone - but for less money. Which not only makes it the ideal entry into the world of high-performance trucks. But also notches above anything else out there that doesn't have a "GMC" on the grille.
