[ISTA] Jabsco 59500-0012 pump update

Jabsco part#  59500-0012

If your looking to replace the original IC pump in your Sy/Ty than this is the part. It will fit in the exact location. It does flow a lot more than the stock unit. (I'm referring to my old stock unit that was in Syclone 811) In fact it looks as though it flows on the same scale as the Shur-Flo units. It emptied a 5 gallon bucket of water 51 seconds faster than my Shur-Flo "Silencer" pump.

I took the impeller housing apart and was really impressed with the magnetic drive technology. What this means is that it would be impossible for this pump to fail the way that both of mine did. (bad seal flooding the armature housing) Also if a piece of debris gets lose in the IC system and jambs the impeller, the pump motor won't fail. (no I didn't try it)

The only things I don't like are that the impeller magnet housing is pressed and melted in place. I would imagine in a worse case scenario it could come lose and spin. The impeller is plastic so it could break if jammed. I believe that those cases would be very extreme and probably would not happen. If I know Jabsco a rebuild kit will be available soon. The impeller shaft is stainless so corrosion won't be a problem. I believe this was the problem with my original pump. The shaft corroded so the surface was no longer smooth causing the seals to wear. for the job this pump has to do on the Sy/Ty I will give this pump an 8 on a scale of 1 to 10. I will give the original pump a 2.

specs are as follows:
Continues Duty. <think the original was? Yea Right)
3 GPM @ 4' head
working temp. is 210 deg. F. <note that working temp is not necessarily max temp)
ISO 8846 Marine ignition protected
IP53 enclosure rating
weight is 825 grams
current draw is 1.2 amps.
fuse size is 2 amps. <note: Don't go over 2 amp fuse size because the motor will still run with jammed impeller. A higher amp fuse and you may never know it until the motor overheats)

I will install it tonight... More Later
