[ISTA] Jabsco pump
That sample pump I got from Jabsco is going
to be installed on a truck soon. We should get
some more info on fit/function in the next
few days... right Roby? <grin>
Roby needed a pump, and I've been covered up
with a non-Sy project (big mistake) recently.
Roby has taken several of those stock pumps
apart, and I feel that he'll be my best test bed
for the new pump.
Personally, I'm running a Shurflo pump right
now, but I have the following comments/concerns.
* The Shurflo pump is big, and you have to find
somewhere to mount it. The Jabsco pump
will fit in the stock location.
* The Shurflo pump isn't designed to handle
hot water that may end up in the IC system.
The Jabsco pump is designed to handle
water over 200 degrees F.
* The Shurflo pump may actually flow too much
water. The water has to flow slow enough to
absorb heat from the intercooler.
As soon as I get some time and extra cash, I'm
gonna sell myself a pump and put it in the the
old stock location.
I finally got more pricing info on that pump.
Jabsco requires an initial buy-in of $5000,
so unless I can get a whole bunch of folks
interested, I'm gonna have to get those pumps
from someone else. When I posted my last
note, I got responses from about 10 folks.
If you want the best price, each of you will
have to buy 8-10 pumps or I'll have to clear
a corner of my garage for a BIG pile of pump<grin>.
The retail price is $110.50, per Jabsco. Roby and
a couple others haven't been able to find 'em for
that price, though.
I found a distributor that is willing to sell 'em to
me, but (obviously) not at their cost. With this deal
I should be able to sell them for $110.
My supplier doesn't have 'em in stock, so he'll
have to contact Jabsco to see how much of a
lead time there is on them. I'll clean-up my
WWW page and post what I know about them.
Someone asked if I knew the flow numbers of
the stock IC pump. I do not. If any of you have
that data, please post it, so we can compare it.
Maybe we can talk Roby in to filling a couple
buckets for us. Please fill Roby's e-mail box
with lots of good questions.
