altenator

I started my Sy after work today and heard a new sound from under the
hood....   after inspection I determined that the alternator was jealous of
the fact that one of the rods was getting to make noise so it decided to
chime in also...   well I took a chance and decided to try to limp it
home...  made it about half way before the alternator seized and the belt
continued to turn....   got it on to a side street with smoke billowing out
from under the hood and was trying to turn it around (no parking on that
side) just as the belt finally broke...   man these trucks suck with no
power steering...    I drove through two lawns (one on each side of the
street) to get it turned around and shut it down..   popped the hood and
removed the smoking belt tangled in the fan and pulleys...  I started it
back up and cautiously drove it home watching the temp gauge climb higher
and higher...   pegged the gauge just three blocks before I got home...
check gauges lights flashing...   power steering by armstrong is failing...
coasted it into my spot....   wow these trucks are fun...   anyway....  I
need an alternator...  I am going to pull the one off the Phoon for the time
being to give me time to get a new one for the Sy....  so what do you guys
that have replaced yours recommend???....  I dont need a super high output
alternator that will run an ark welder...  just a replacement..  If I can
find one that pumps the current up a little for about the same price as a
stocker that is cool...  but I dont have a megga-watt stereo so factory
output is ok...    obviously I am looking to save some bux....    thanx for
your help..
