Urethane rear bushings

A few hundred miles and a couple of months ago I replaced all my leaf spring
bushings with urethane upgrades. As is often the case with mod's, a
replacement is not necessarily a great improvement. The problem I am having
is a fair amount of squeaking now coming from the new bushings. I did get a
couple of tubes of silicone grease with them, but it had to be spread pretty
thin to cover the outside of all six bushings. Now I am thinking that it may
be quieter if I had not used the grease except at the ends of the bushings
where they interface with the shackle and body mounting points. Does anybody
have any experience with this? What would be the best way to eliminate this
racket? Thanks in advance for the help.
