Brian,
   Speaking of rust, you have to be sure and check 4 places that are
notorious for rust.   1) on the bottom part of the door where the water
drains from the door.  2) rear hatch area,  pull the weather stripping
on the top part and where the stripping is attached to is where the rust
starts.   3) rear hatch area,  on the lift gate part,  the bottom of the
gate.   4) on the side glass (BIG WINDOWS)  with your finger and not a
screw driver,  look arround the near the bottom-rear part under the
moulding.
   So far I have encountered rust on #1 & #2 and I try to check all of
these places when I can.
