Could be the A/C belt slipping- the newer ones smell less like rubber
all the time.

Do you have an aftermarket chip? The A/C clutch is turned off by the 
stock chip at more than 90% throttle...

I doubt you'd smell this, it'd just show up as sludge in the tranny
fluid.
