i can only relate my son's experience with his silverado truck with the 6 
liter engine and the infamous cold piston slap. calling this number got him 
into arbitration which resulted in gm stating that it did not affect 
durability etc and he would receive a 100k warranty. he
did not like it, hired a lawyer who just managed to have gm payoff the loan 
balance, take
back the truck and reimburse all payments from the date the noise started. 
also the law-
yer's fee was paid by gm. if this sounds easy, it was not as he hassled with 
the various
parties for more than a year. good luck!
