[SYTY] Re: GM Dispute Mediation
Hey Gang,
Thanks for the replies. The warranty is on a
Replacement Engine. The engine got lost 450 miles into
a 525 mile trip. The engine oil was full. The gas
station confirmed today and I personally checked it.
Maintanence was normal.
Dealer 1 ordered the engine. Result: Not in Stock.
Dealer 2 Voided warranty Reason: Because of a not to
spec oil line to the turbo discovered during checkout
and it's resultant oil seepage, the oil pressure drop
and low oil level caused Engine Oil Pressure to drop
resulting in Engine Failure.
Complete BS, a red herring.
I looked at some warranty cases on the internet.
point in fact a case where a customer sued GM Canada
after installing a turbo on a diesel truck. A piece
of metal entered the engine after a 2 years and the
engine died. The small claims court awarded damages
from a breach of warranty to the maximum amount saying
the length of time from turbo installation and the
failure was too long to prove GM's assertion that the
turbo installation was the cause of the failure. This
award was made even when GM brought a service bulletin
that warned GM customers not to install a turbo on
that model and engine. The customer was not aware of
the bulletin.
This sucks. It was in Canada but my engine was 2 years
into a 3 year warranty and 30,000 miles shy from the
end of the warranty.
