RE: [SYTY] GM Dispute Mediation

Yeah, it's funny.
The dealer claimed that my GREDDY turbo-timer caused my motor to overboost.
If that's not an indicator of skill level/competency, I don't know what is.
I just gave up. It was like arguing with someone on the Internet.

Howdy,
Actually, by federal law, an automotive manufacturer can only deny
warranty work if they can prove the aftermarket modification was the
primary cause of the problem (it's called the Magnuson-Moss Act). The
problem, however, is actually enforcing it. Most warranty claims are
well below the threshold where the DoJ will do anything, and most people
can't afford to take on a dealership (or a manufacturer) in court. So,
more often than not, the dealership will try to deny a claim if they see
anything aftermarket in the hopes they can get away with it.
The next step will be to complain to GM, in the hopes that they will
force one of the dealerships to do the warranty work.

		Good Luck,
		Bill
