I've had an annoying intermittent vibration at
highway speeds for some time.
Recently I noticed that I now have an intermittent
vibration at low speeds(less than 20mph) at light throttle going up slight
grades in traffic (not TC shudder or anything like that). Then I noticed I have
the same vibration if I am sitting in neutral or park and just give it enough
throttle (maybe 1200 to 1500 rpm)then let off abruptly. In this situation
the vibration will be felt MORE during the release of throttle.
I get the feeling the vibration is all the same
problem, but is just getting more and more prevailent as time goes on. I thought
it was a propshaft until I realized it was happening at park and neutral
also.
I also have a "clunk" when accelerating from a
coast condition after slowing to almost a stop. Like stop and go traffic. The
tranny isn't slipping and the torsion mounts and tranny mount are new. All
suspension bushings are polyurethane. Ball joints (upper and lower) are
about a year old. Engine is original and mounts were pretty sad looking when I
did my tranny R&R. Lots of angled cracks through the mounts on both sides.
Didn't have time to check them then for complete breakage though.
Does this sound like a broken engine mount problem?
Maybe something within the engine out of balance(bent rod or something). Engine
is VERY tired and I just take it really easy on it now until I can get it
replaced.
I've been really busy with illnesses in the family
as of late and would like to get it taken care of but can't take the truck apart
yet (no time or money)but need to know what direction I should go so I can start
looking at what parts I may need to replace.
Thanks so much for any help you people can
give.
Take care,
Blake
