Re: [ISTA] NP205 X-Fer Case..Driveline Gurus..
This is the problem we are having....nobody really knows for absolute SURE
what is the reality here..... I've talked to a few GM technicians as well
as some others from different manufacturers and some are really good with
their trade and some that don't know their ball-joints from their U-joints.
I have spoken with people who claim that x-fer case "A" will do this and
that, and that x-fer case "B" will only do so and so.
My own personal experience with the auto-trac's is what I have seen with my
own two eyes.
As far as the delay in taking too long to disengage....we can eliminate that
when we program the PCM that controls the x-fer case.....basically fool it
into thinking that traction has been restored sooner than it is being led to
belive based on sensor inputs.
Trial and error sessions at the local 1320 will be necessary to find out at
what RPM/speed/etc that the x-fer case needs to disengage. The engage time
is not an issue....just as long as it's in 4x4 auto at the starting line,
we're all good.
We are not interested in engagement.....we need a nice smooth DISengagement
so that we don't eat unnecessary HP after the 60' or somewhere thereafter
(again, based on trial and error).
Start obsessive professor mode: Let's do some research people!!!
Later for now,
Matt
