Re: [ISTA] Trailer hitches...
The big difference in that the GN is not AWD and you are using a 200R4
instead of a 700R4, the concern with towing is not with the actual power
being there for towing, we all know we have the power for towing but the
trans is "not able" to handle the extra weight.
I was making a funny when someone asked that question because of how much
banter comes out of it. If I was looking for a tow vehicle, I would not own
the Ty, I have seen people towing stuff with their Vette's before also. I
would not put a hitch on mine... call me spoiled.

NS & List,
I have towed some pretty good loads w my GN, and I really don't think there
is a big problem. I think U would want to limit the weight. The most I did
was a 5x10 U-Haul trailer full of, say 1000-2000 Lbs. The big problem is to
prevent the Turbo from coming in all of the time by downshifting, so that U
get the HP from RPM's rather than the Turbo. Also, instrument the car well w
temperature guages - water, oil and Trans oil.
The last load I pulled was a bit of a nightmare, however, a few 1000 #'s
from
CA to TX in the middle of summer when it was 110-120°F much of the way; up
and down many 1000's of Ft.- U can't get any worse ! I had all three T
guages, and I got some eye-popping temps - maxing out @ 240°+ on water, 280
+
on Oil, and 280+ on Trans Oil. It was tense all of the way up hills, and
typically I had to keep the AC off. I was continually waiting 4 it to blow -
but it didn't. I wasn't too worried, because I knew I was going to rebuild
Engine & Trans.
