They mount the engine to the frame.  They also isolate the engine from the frame using rubber (stock).  It makes for a much more comfortable ride, because the constant vibration of the engine is isolated from the frame of the truck.

Very.  Without the motor being mounted to the frame, the motor would probably turn round and round in the engine compartment.  :)  You can do hard steel motor mounts without any isolation, but it would suck bad.

Easy. Follow these 3 steps.

(1) Remove engine.
(2) Replace mounts
(3) Reinstall engine.

Sorry, I couldn't resist ... I wouldn't want to try this without removing the engine, but it might be possible.  If the engine is out, it's easy as pie.
