[ISTA] Mysterious Wiper Activation

I'm wondering if anyone else has experienced the same strange windshield 
wiper phenomenon I've got on my Sy... Seems that every so often, when I use
my turn signals (left or right, doesn't seem to matter), and occasionally
even when I do nothing, I get one pass of the wipers. It's like I hit the
"mist" switch on the stalk, even though I know for a fact I didn't (and it's
far too stiff to activate accidentally and not realize it). My best guess is
that I've got a short in the steering column, but I haven't been brave
enough to start digging around in there to see.

Has anybody else solved this problem? I know this is a long shot, but then
again, I just fixed my window motor using instructions from a web page I
picked up while lurking here, so who knows? I'd rather not reinvent the
wheel if this is something common that has a published solution.
